Do Girls Learn Strength Training Faster Than Boys?
Share
When I train youth athletes, the girls and boys all do the same strength movements—same weight room, same exercises, same instructions. But what I’ve noticed over and over is this:
Young girls tend to pick up the technical side of training faster.
They’re often more in tune with their body, more focused on the details, and just move better early on. It’s not a hard rule, but it’s a consistent trend I see.
It could be due to earlier maturation—girls often develop coordination and body awareness sooner than boys. But it’s always interesting to watch them side by side, same age, same movement, and see how differently they process and apply the instructions.
This doesn’t mean one group is “better” than the other. It just reinforces the idea that kids develop at different rates—and good coaching should meet them where they are.
