How Athletes Can Get Faster and Stronger Outside of Practice

How Athletes Can Get Faster and Stronger Outside of Practice

For most athletes, practice is only part of the development process.

Practice helps you learn your sport, compete, improve your skills, and understand the game. But if your goal is to become faster, stronger, more explosive, and more athletic, there’s work that needs to happen outside of practice too.

The problem is that a lot of athletes simply don’t know what that work should look like.

Practice Isn't the Same as Training

Going to football, basketball, soccer, baseball, volleyball, or any other practice doesn't automatically mean you're developing every physical quality you need as an athlete.

Getting stronger requires strength training.

Getting faster requires sprinting and learning how to move efficiently.

Becoming more explosive requires jumping, landing, accelerating, and producing force.

And all of those things need to be trained consistently over time.

That's where having a plan becomes important.

Stop Guessing What to Do

One of the biggest mistakes I see athletes make is going into the gym and doing random workouts they found online.

One day they're doing a bodybuilding workout. The next day they're copying an NFL player's workout. Then they're doing a speed workout they saw on Instagram.

Working hard matters, but working hard without a plan only gets you so far.

Your training should match where you are as an athlete and help you progressively build the qualities you need to perform better.

The Work Outside of Practice Matters

Whether you're trying to make the team, earn more playing time, become a starter, or eventually earn an opportunity to play at the college level, you have to continue developing.

That's especially important for athletes who don't have access to a strength and conditioning coach outside of their team.

That's exactly why I created ATHLETE-X.

ATHLETE-X is built for the independent athlete who wants to get better but needs structure and guidance outside of practice.

Instead of guessing what workout to do, athletes can follow structured training designed to help them become faster, stronger, more explosive, and more resilient. They can also get personalized form feedback to help make sure they're performing movements correctly and getting the most out of their training.

For parents, ATHLETE-X provides a way to give your athlete access to quality training and guidance even when they aren't working directly with a coach.

ATHLETE-X Beta Is Here

We're currently opening ATHLETE-X to our first group of beta testers before the official public release.

This is an early version of the app, which means we're looking for athletes and parents to use it, train with it, and tell us what they like, what they don't like, and what we can make better.

If you're an athlete who wants to take more ownership of your development—or a parent looking for more structure for your athlete outside of practice—we'd love to have you be part of it.

The work doesn't stop when practice ends.
