Make Them Move
Share
It’s crazy how many kids show up to me in middle school or even high school, and they still don’t know how to move their body.
I’m talking simple stuff—running, skipping, jumping—and they just can’t do it. I’ve had high school athletes running with the same arm and same leg. That’s the stuff you usually fix when they’re little. But these kids never moved growing up.
They’ve spent years inside. Sitting. Playing the game. On the iPad. Watching TV. Not climbing. Not sprinting. Not playing tag. Not doing anything that actually develops body awareness. So now they finally want to play a sport or start training, and they’re way behind.
It’s not even their fault. It’s just how things are now.
But if you’re a parent reading this—you gotta get your kid outside. Let them run. Let them fall. Let them figure it out. I’m not saying throw them into hardcore training at 6 years old. I’m saying give them chances to move while they’re young, so when the time comes to take sports seriously, they’re not starting from zero.
It makes all the difference.
